Problems and Suggested Use of Calm My Pet Products

Important Health & Calming Suggestions by Dr. Pamela Fisher

  1. What is Calm My Pet?

Calm My Pet includes UNSCENTED, FAST-ACTING calming essences, organic aromatherapy, therapeutic music, and a protection pendant formulated by holistic veterinarian Dr. Pamela Fisher.

  2. How do I use Calm My Pet Essences and Aromatherapy?

Mist lightly on pet’s fur, toys, or in crate as needed for calming. May be sprayed on hands and applied by gently stroking fur.  The essences can also be sprayed on food or in water.  Avoid eyes.  Calm Ride should only be sprayed on the aroma-disc or diffused in the air.

   3. What makes Calm My Pet products unique?

Calm My Pet products are certified organic and handmade by holistic veterinarian Dr. Fisher in North Canton, OH.  Our essences are completely unscented, containing no alcohol or glycerin.  They can be sprayed on topically and go into effect within a few minutes.  They also can be applied to your hand and pet gently in the animals back, or sprayed into their water.  These essences are tasteless and easily accepted by all pets.  These are not herbal remedies.  They are made with plants, flowers, trees, gemstones, color therapy, and Reiki energy infused in spring water.  These are sometimes called “vibrational essences” and are the cutting edge of natural calming products in the pet industry.

Calm My Pet Music CD is much more than just standard calming music.  The CD contains mostly original compositions (with a few classical melodies) performed by sound therapist Arden Wilken.  She has been a sound therapist for 37 years and recorded the CDwith SSRS (Spectrum Sound Resonance System) to enhance the relaxation effect of the music with psychoacoustic frequencies.

Calm Aroma and Calm Ride are aromatherapies.  Calm Aroma is 100% hydrosol (no water added) with a light scent.  Dogs have much stronger senses of smell than humans, so they do not need a strong scent to have a positive effect.  Also, this light scent allows Calm Aroma to be sprayed even if there are cats in the household.  Calm Ride is a much stronger essential oil blend, and comes with an aroma-disc.  To use, spray on the aroma disc and affix to your car air vent or a fan in your home.

Calm My Pet Pendant is intuitively designed with a special Electro Magnetic Frequency (EMF) protection bead and gemstones to balance, protect and help our pets feel their best in our electronic world.  Attach to your pet’s collar (away from tags), bed or crate. Use this for your pet and yourself as a pendant, attach to a cell phone, by computer or in a pocket for protection.  Protects from energies emitted from sources such as microwaves, electronics, and fluorescent lights.

   4. What is the difference between Calm My Dog, Calm My Cat, and Calm My Stress?

Firstly, each are made with different ingredients (listed on the website).  Calm My Dog is for daily use specifically for dogs and dog stresses.  Use Calm My Cat for daily use on cats, and for cat specific stresses such as meowing, hiding, and tense interactions.  Calm My Stress works on both dogs and cats and is made for times of intense stress, such as visitors, thunderstorms, fireworks, grooming, vet visits, separation anxiety, etc.  Products can be used together and have an additive effect when doing so.

    5. Where do I store the products?

Store in a cool, dark, dry place away from heat and electromagnetic fields. Calm Aroma is best stored in the refrigerator.

   6. How are Calm My Pet products different than flower essences?

Our unscented essences (Calm My Dog, Calm My Cat, and Calm My Stress) are made with much more than just flowers.  Also, because our products do not have any preservative (such as alcohol or glycerin), they are completely tasteless and easily accepted by all pets.  Dr. Fisher frequently sprays the product in her hand, and the dog or cat happily licks the product right out of her hand.

  7. How are Calm My Pet products different than herbal remedies?

Our unscented essences (Calm My Dog, Calm My Cat, and Calm My Stress) are not made with herbs, and do not need to be taken orally.  This allows them to go into effect much quicker than a remedy that needs to be ingested.  Also, you can use our products in combination with herbal remedies.

  8. If they are unscented, how do they work?

These products are carefully formulated by Dr. Fisher, a holistic veterinarian of 17 years.  They are made to calm, but also to provide healing properties to our pets.  When the product is either sprayed on their skin or ingested, our unscented essences work to change the energy field of the pet, making them more comfortable.  These products also work well for focus during training, and issues with aging pets.

   9. How quickly do the sprays work?

Essences and Aromatherapy are fast acting. Relaxing effects are usually seen immediately or within minutes of application. With continued daily use, animals commonly show overall improved behavior. Repeat as often as needed.

  10. How often do they need to be reapplied?

This usually varies depending on the pet.   We usually recommend 2-3 times a day, but during an intense stress situation, they can be used much more frequently.  Since this product is 100% safe and organic, you cannot overdose, and there are no harmful interactions with other products.

  11. Which Essence should I try first?

Start with Calm My Dog or Calm My Cat for any mild daily stress or anxiety. If additional calming is needed, use Calm My Stress as well. Calm My Stress can also be used alone for more intense fears and can safely be used throughout the day.

 12. What is best for a dog & cat household?

Start with Calm My Stress and Calm My Pet Music in a multi pet household. For specific Cat or Dog related stress, add Calm My Cat or Calm My Dog.

 13. When should I use the Calm My Pet CD?

This therapeutic music can be used day or night to help calm, soothe and heal. We recommend combining with one of our unscented essences for additional calming benefits. Use during travel, while home or away, during thunderstorms, fireworks, and before visitors arrive. It is important to also play music during non-stressful times.

 14. How can I use the Pendant if my pet doesn’t wear a collar?

The pendant can be hooked to a harness or soft collar/bandana, hooked to crate, or sewn into their bed.  The pendant calms and balances the health of our pets in households with computers, electronics and microwaves.

IMPORTANT HEALTH & CALMING SUGGESTIONS by Dr. Pamela Fisher, DVM

A Natural Diet with highest quality grain free ingredients supplemented with a variety of fresh foods or a Home Prepared balanced diet is essential and helps to promote a calm, healthy, happy pet. Positive Reward Based Training and focus work is very beneficial, along with regular exercise to reduce stress and improve health. I also suggest a person explore other healing modalities:
Reiki
Healing Touch for Animals
Tellington TTouch
Emotional Freedom Technique
Color Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy
Massage and Acupressure

to be used in conjunction with the CALM MY PET products.

Nutritional Therapy is an important calming health tool. Dogs and cats are carnivores and a high-quality balanced grain free food (the fresher the better) should include superior sources of protein, vegetables and other fresh foods. Spring or filtered water should be free choice in a non-plastic bowl. In addition, many natural whole food supplements can greatly benefit your pet’s ability to prevent illness and strengthen his whole body. Always transition to new food and supplements gradually. Consult with a Holistic Veterinarian for guidance (www.AHVMA.org)

Positive Reward Based Training can be used to help your pet stay focused and calm. Rewarding and shaping the appropriate behaviors can help you and your pet stay calm in excitable situations. The CHILL OUT FIDO! book has great training instructions. Find a Positive Reward Based trainer and Animal Behaviorist to help you.

Exercise & Environmental Enrichment - use puzzles and other food dispensing enrichment toys. Remember to make it fun!

Cats - Use toy (Da-Bird, laser toy, etc.) to let them chase until they're tired (breathing a little hard), let them "catch" it and then feed them their meal (twice daily). It is especially important to exercise all the cats in a multi cat household.

Reiki - (Universal Life Force Energy) is an ancient Japanese art of natural healing. With this Touch Healing technique, the healer uses her hands to transmit energy healing and balancing of energy flows of the physical and emotional body. Reiki brings about deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body. www.reiki.org, www.animalreikisource.com

Healing Touch for Animals® - is a compilation of biofield techniques by Carol Komitor, LMT, CHTP to facilitate the healing process.  Healing Touch for Animals® works with the energy body to provide the correct physiology so the body can heal.  HTA provides the techniques to support this process.  HTA helps with emotional, physical, behavioral issues, etc. It works by releasing endorphins to establish a deeper relaxation and state of being, allowing the body to function at a greater level. By allowing muscles to relax, circulation is increased, sending more oxygen, nutrients, and hormones into the body to support healing.www.healingtouchforanimals.com

Both HTA and Reiki are bio-field, energy-based modalities.

Tellington TTouch® - is based on circular movements of the fingers and hands all over the body. The intent of the TTouch is to activate the function of the cells and awaken cellular intelligence - a little like "turning on the electric lights of the body." The TTouch is done on the entire body, and each circular TTouch is complete within itself. Therefore it is not necessary to understand anatomy to be successful in speeding up the healing of injuries or ailments, or changing undesirable habits or behavior. www.ttouch.com

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - can alleviate stress, pain and suffering in people and animals. Originally developed for people, EFT is a modern energy healing technique that works on the energy system, not on the physical body.Unlike acupressure, you tap or touch very lightly, sending small energy pulses from your healing hands into your energy system, balancing and re-energizing it and clearing blockages as you do so. Proxy Tapping for the Animal EFT is that you DON'T tap on the animal directly, but you tap on yourself to make the changes happen. http://animal-eft.org

Color Therapy uses color and light to balance energy of the physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental body. Specific colors may be applied by lights, essences, fabric, gemstones and colored glasses. Color can be targeted at the energy centers of the body and acupuncture points to bring homeostasis. www.holisticvetpractice.com/chromotherapy.html

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) - is a light touch manual technique, which enhances the body’s natural healing processes. Osteopath, John E. Upledger, developed this intuitive guided therapy. Generally using about five grams of pressure or about the weight of a nickel, the body is evaluated and gently manipulated to help the body release any restrictions and promote the normal rhythm and flow of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. The length of time and the number of sessions needed is extremely variable and depends on, among other factors, the complex layers of the injury or trauma that may mask the original cause of the problem as well as the body’s defense mechanisms. This gentle approach follows the body’s lead to uncover the source of pain or dysfunction that can open the path to wellness. www.holisticvetpractice.com/craniosacral_therapy_animals.html

Massage and Acupressure - help your pets physically as well as psychologically, helping to relieve distress, anxiety and discomfort. These can be used as a calming and prevention measure for all animals. Other benefits include toxin release, increase in flexibility, build confidence and restore energy.

Environment - I recommend using organic lawn care and organic chemical free household cleaners and laundry supplies.
